Why is Recalibration Necessary?

Regular recalibration is a prerequisite for maintaining the integrity of your data. Over time, due to environmental factors and regular use, even the most robust systems experience changes in alignment or accuracy.

By prioritizing regular recalibration of your optical instruments, you can ensure accurate measurements, leading to better overall performance.

OptoFidelity’s recalibration service ensures precise, consistent, SI-compliant measurements while minimizing downtime and extending equipment lifespan.

For what is our Recalibration Service?

OptoFidelity's recalibration service is for products utilizing OptoColor and OptoGrayscale, such as the OptoFidelity Production IQ, OptoFidelity WG-IQ, and custom-built systems.

How does it work?

Once you book your first calibration, it operates in cycles, allowing you to focus on other priorities while we manage your scheduling and logistics.

All recalibrations are conducted at our OptoFidelity Calibration Lab.  We recommend recalibration every six months, up to 12 months.

After recalibration in our lab, the instrument is reinstalled, and system alignment is performed to correct misalignments and ensure optimal camera and projector alignment.

Choose the right solution for your needs

Whether you choose to manage your instruments or opt for the convenience of our OptoRotation™ service, we provide flexible solutions to meet your specific needs. We also ensure that your recalibrations are completed on schedule, providing all necessary materials to keep your system running smoothly and without disruption. Recalibration services can be integrated into your Service Level Agreement (SLA) for continuous support. OptoRotation is exclusively available as part of an SLA package.

OptoRotation

We supply a replacement instrument as part of the service, removing the need for extra equipment management. This approach minimizes downtime, allowing you to maintain seamless operations throughout the process.

Minimal system downtime
Instrument on-site swap
No instrument management needed

Case-dependent instrument revision at no additional cost

Available only as part of an SLA

4

Spare Instrument for Recalibration

Purchase a spare instrument to keep your system operational while your main unit is recalibrated. This approach minimizes downtime, allowing you to maintain seamless operations throughout the process.

Minimal system downtime
Instrument on-site swap
Manage your instruments

5

Recalibrate Existing Instrument

Recalibrate your instrument without a spare instrument. This option is ideal if you perform measurements infrequently and can accommodate some system downtime while seeking a lower-investment solution.

Low CapEx investment
No instrument management needed
Increased system downtime needs to be considered

Process step-by-step by solution

All of our solutions follow predefined steps to ensure a smooth process. OptoRotation and the Spare Instrument solutions share a similar step-by-step approach, minimizing system downtime by allowing immediate replacement with a spare instrument. When using an existing instrument, the process takes longer as there is no spare available to replace the one being calibrated.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I recalibrate my instruments?

For accurate and meaningful measurements, we recommend every six months, up to 12 months.

What happens if I don't recalibrate?

Customers may leave their optics uncalibrated, but without regular calibration, the results become unreliable. Unreliable measurement data reduces the accuracy of the analysis potentially generating undetected product quality issues.

Why is recalibration necessary if my equipment seems to be working fine?

Any measurement tools need to be regularly calibrated to ensure their accuracy, reliability, and consistency, preventing errors and maintaining compliance with standards. Recalibration is necessary even if your equipment appears to be working fine because accuracy can gradually change over time due to environmental factors and regular use.

I have a tailored product from OptoFidelity, which has OptoColor. Can it be recalibrated?

Yes, all products with our OptoColor or OptoGrayscale can and should be recalibrated.

Is performing regular calibration on my system enough, or should I consider other things throughout the system's lifecycle?

Regular calibration is a great start, but it's not enough to ensure optimal performance throughout your system's lifecycle. We offer additional services to address maintenance, upgrades, and system adjustments to help you maintain peak performance over time. Read more about our Service Packages.
